Mr. John Peplowski- Director of Bands
Mr. Vince Lucente- Assistant Director of Bands, Percussion Caption Head

Mr. Lucente has served as the Percussion Caption Head for Ursuline High School since 2002 and has
had a steady increase in members from 10 percussionists to its now 23 member percussion section. The
Percussion under Mr. Lucente's direction have had great success at the OMEA sanctioned competitions
in the past two years. In 2007, the percussion placed an impressive 2nd place finish out of 9 bands with
a score of 7.4 in their first competition in the school's history. In 2008, the percussion increased their
score to a 8.7 finishing with another great showing of 3rd place overall out of 17 bands, to finally in 2010
having an undefeated season with 3 High Percussion Trophies and a high score of 9.3
Mr. Lucente has performed with the Youngstown State University Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble,
Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Pride. He has studied with many top educators in the state of Ohio
including: John Peplowski, Glenn Schaft, Ron Coulter, Rob Fergusson, Janet Pemberton, Nathan
Douds, Craig Hill, and Tom Freer of the Cleveland Symphony. He is also a member of the Ohio Music
Educators Association, Mid East Percussion Association, Percussive Arts Society, and Winter Guard
International. Mr. Lucente teaches privately to many students at Ursuline High School along with middle
school students from the Austintown, Girard, Hubbard, Niles and Youngstown area.
Vince is now the Director and Front Ensemble Technician for the Nationally Ranked WGI Indoor
Percussion Ensemble out of Youngstown, Ohio. He was a former snareline member for Elements in
2007 and is the first ageout and youngest staff member in the organization's history. He is also the
Percussion Caption Head for the White Sabers Drum & Bugle Corps out of Dansville, New York.
Mr. Peplowski is now serving as the Director of Bands at Ursuline High School for his 20th year.
The Ursuline High School Band has shown a dramatic increase in numbers and quality of
students through the years. In Mr. Peplowski's first year, the band was as little as 25 students
and has grown to has high as 77 students. The band under Mr. Peplowski's direction has won
many 1st place titles at various National Concert Band Competitions across the country. Mr.
Peplowski has received both his undergrad and masters degrees from Youngstown State's Dana
School of Music and is a member of the Ohio Music Educators Association. Mr. Peplowski
currently resides in Liberty with his wife and three children.
